Welcome from the Chair
Welcome to the Lincolnshire CIPD Branch website. The Branch Committee came together in the Autumn of 2015 after a period of inactivity in the county. We have been very fortunate in that the University of Lincoln has agreed to act as our host for committee meetings and some of the learning events, and I am sure this partnership will continue to grow. The Branch aim is to promote the CIPD, ensuring that local members continue their professional development journey, have access to good quality and timely HR updates, and are able to do this by effective networking and generally ‘sharing the load’.
In Lincolnshire we have approximately 1300 registered members, many of whom struggle to keep pace with HR developments, their ever increasing inboxes, and time required to attend essential training. The committee would like to demonstrate that by joining together we are able to identify what members really need to address their professional challenges, share valuable intelligence and provide peer support. This also includes offering special interest events, timely communications, assistance with professional upgrades and general support through Branch activities.
The evolving Branch Committee has started to offer events for members to take advantage of; the events offered so far were a valuable insight into the workings of an employment tribunal, an up to date look at what is currently trending within the field of Organisational Development, and a Membership Upgrade Workshop. I am very pleased to say that the events have all been well evaluated and had attendee waiting lists.
The next event offered is a Wellbeing Conference on 6th July 2016 at the Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa – just follow the Events link above for further details and booking instructions. The event is aimed at helping organisations, staff and HR professionals to manage wellbeing and resilience in their ever demanding professional lives – a priority for all of us I am sure!
We are always pleased to hear ideas from HR and associated professionals to inform the branch programme and we are currently in the process of finalising our Branch Business Plan for 2016/17 so would welcome your views via the Contact us link.
We are also actively looking for hosts for one of the committee meetings in the south of the county, so if you have a suitable venue and we can attract members from across the geographical area, please do get in touch with us as we would like to use new technologies to meet as many members as possible – even if it is ‘virtually’!
