CIPD Branches - networking, insights and professional support

Welcome from the Chair

Thank you for visiting the South East of Scotland CIPD Branch homepage.

I am excited to be part of an organisation whose mission is to champion better work and working lives. What this means to me at a branch level is that we should look to actively promote the role of HR and People focused specialisms across all types and sizes of local organisations.

It is fundamental to our branch purpose that we support the continuing professional development of our 2,300 branch members. I feel it is equally important to welcome new people into our profession and re-engage with any established HR professionals who have not recently taken advantage of our proposition.

I believe you can benefit most from your membership by being actively involved with the branch activities. This may be through attending events, contributing to our newsletters, participating in our on-line discussions or by joining our Branch Committee or one of the associated special interest groups. We work hard to offer opportunities to network with colleagues and enjoy development opportunities which reflect our profession map. A key part of our strategy is based on working in productive partnership with local partners, other professional bodies and employers.

Our Branch Committee is working hard to continue to provide a diverse and comprehensive schedule of events for Members, enabling us all to share the benefit and expertise of a range of profiled speakers and leaders in our profession. The Branch provides an active programme of support to members including events, membership upgrading workshops, support and advice. It contributes to the work of CIPD Scotland, for instance planning of the Scottish CIPD Conference, as well as supporting the wider activities of the CIPD in Wimbledon. Our events programme is available by clicking on ‘Events’ in the right hand menu. This section is updated on a regular basis so please do check and keep up to date with changes and additions.

Our current branch strategic themes include a focus on using technology in a better way to engage with more of our members and looking to adopt a more flexible approach to the way we deliver our services. We are keen to ensure that our branch programme remains up to date and relevant to you. Please do keep in touch with us and do give us your comments about any of our events and suggestions for future events.

I would like to thank all of our branch volunteer committee and members for your continued support and I look forward to engaging with you over social media or meeting you in person at an event in the near future.

Branch Committee

The South East Scotland Branch Committee is run by volunteer HR Professionals who work locally to provide you with information and ensure the events are interesting and informative. If you are interested in joining the Branch Committee or participating in the activities and event planning of one of the Groups, please contact us.

Sponsoring your local branch

There are lots of different ways a company can sponsor their local CIPD branch and show their support for various different aspects of branch activities. We are always pleased to receive sponsorship in order to expand our range of activities. Sponsorship can take several forms:

  • offering a venue for local group meetings or Branch Committee meetings
  • offering free refreshments
  • sponsoring an event through sharing technical expertise or through leadership.

Please contact us for more details.

About us

It is our vision to be your CIPD local hub of resources, supporting branch members' professional needs and by sharing knowledge and by encouraging continuing learning and development. We have developed our branch plan, which is focused on ensuring that our branch activities help you make the most of your CIPD membership.

If you have ideas for improving what we have to offer or if you think we can help you with any aspect of your career or your continuing development, please contact us.

We also welcome your comments on what you think of the branch area and how we are doing in general. Your feedback will help us to learn and improve. We have a core of dedicated volunteers helping to organise CIPD activities across the South East Scotland area and it's down to their commitment that we can help our members to develop and learn as HR professionals. We are looking for volunteers to support the work of the Branch and should you want to get involved please get in touch.
