There's a better way to develop your career

Our new chartered title will identify chartered members as fully qualified, experienced professionals who are constantly updating their skills and knowledge.

Gaining chartered status will enable you to use a title that will be instantly recognised by employers, peers, clients and the wider public.

Our vision is that chartered membership will become the aspiration for all those who are working towards, or have met, our Professional Standards.

For Graduate members


To progress to chartered membership you need to meet the experience requirements and be committed to your continuing professional development (CPD).

To upgrade to Chartered MCIPD you'll need to demonstrate three years' relevant managerial level experience, or ten years' for Chartered Fellow.

For Affiliate, Associate and Licentiate members


Before you can progress to chartered membership you need to achieve Graduate membership of the Institute, which meansmeeting our Professional Standards at practitioner level.

If you are enrolled on a programme that is accredited to give Graduate membership on completion, you should think now about creating an evidence file so you will be in a position to apply upgrade to chartered membership.
