How did you first get started in CPD?
All my life I have been a 'student', following up any and every loose end both in my primary profession as a Civl and Geotechnical Engineer and, latterly, as a Conflict Manager, with a particular emphasis on training & education.
How do you make sure you reflect on your learning?
As I teach, tutor and examine worldwide in both English and Spanish in all forms of conflict management and dispute resolution, the feedback from my students (who are always acutely critical!) I know whether I am up-to-date or not and whether I am getting across to them. Also, the organisations and institutions I associate with in this work provide me with useful critical feedback.
How have you and others benefited from your learning?
As a perpetual 'seeker', my work and the large amount of continuous research it involves give me a great deal of general insight into the human condition in all its forms and appearances.
What have been the tangible outcomes of your CPD?
I have been asked to advise, teach &c in all aspects of conflict management in many parts of the world, including drafting new laws, constitutions of conflict management orgnaisations, rules and regulations and I annually lecture at universities in both the Anglo-Saxon and Romanistic-Germanic worlds.
What are your CPD plans for the coming year?
To try to keep up in the same manner!
