How did you get started in CPD?

I started CPD when I started my PgDPM course and have continued with it ever since. I feel that writing a CPD helps me to collect my thoughts and consider what I have learned and how I would handle an issue or situation differently next time.

How do you make sure you reflect on your learning?

To ensure I reflect on my learning I gain feedback after performing the task considering my performance and try to improve any weaknesses.

How have you and others benefited from your learning?

I feel all levels of the organisation have benefited from my professional development as I have been responsible for training and coaching staff, transferring my skills and experience and influencing behaviour successfully. I feel the Senior Management Team has benefited most from my CPD as I have used the skills and knowledge gained to take on more responsibilities across all areas of the business in order to demonstrate my problem solving and decision making skills.

What have been the tangible outcomes of your CPD?

I feel tangible outcomes of my CPD have been a reduction on costs as a result of lower levels of staff turnover and sickness absence within the organisation together with an increase in profit achieved via comprehensive, consistent training, increased sales skills levels and initiatives to recognise staff achievements, resulting in increased productivity and income for the business. I have also been instrumental in instilling a learning culture within the organisation and this is ongoing and evolving. I also feel I have added value through the HR advice I am able to provide to all levels of staff.

What are your CPD plans for the coming year?

During the next 12 months I intend to develop my skills and knowledge further in the area of training and development and management in order to become a more effective leader so I can take on more challenging tasks with more responsibility, in order to expand my experience and skills. I will become more involved in the business as I feel this experience will complement and enhance my HR skills.
