If you've been awarded a relevant qualification within the last ten years, direct admission for approved qualifications is the best way for you to become a member of the CIPD.
To be eligible you must hold one of the following:
- a CIPD-approved or accredited qualification
- an MBA
- a National or Scottish Vocational qualification (NVQ/SVQ) at level 3 or above in a relevant occupational area
- a SQA HNC in Human Resource Management or Learning and Development
- a Certificate in Training and Development (CTD)
- a Diploma in Training Management
Qualifications over ten years old
If your qualification is over ten years old, there are other membership routes available to you which will offer you full access to our member services.

Non-registration fee
All candidates following a CIPD-approved programme of study must join us at the start of their course. If you haven't done this you'll need to pay an additional fee to get your qualification recognised and to be awarded a grade of membership.

The non-registration fee does not apply to candidates holding an MBA, an NVQ/SVQ, a SQA HNC in Human Resource Management or Learning and Development, or a CTD or DTM.
*Also applies to those who hold the Professional Qualification Scheme (PQS) and Professional Education Scheme (PES) qualifications.
