What is it?

Unit A1: Assess Candidates Using a Range of Methods covers the skills you'll need when collecting and judging evidence of competence from candidates and their peers, and the skills needed to be an effective assessor of NVQ students.

Who's eligible? 

This qualification is for anyone who's involved in assessing and providing feedback to NVQ students.

There are no formal entry requirements, but you'll need to have access to two NVQ candidates, either through their centre or in the workplace.

What does it cover?

Unit A1 is made up of four mandatory elements:

  • A1.1: Develop plans for assessing completence with candidates
  • A1.2: Judge evidence against criteria to make assessment decisions
  • A1.3: Provide feedback and support to candidates on assessment decisions
  • A1.4: Contribute to the internal quality assurance process.

How long does it take to complete?

It usually takes 12-18 months to complete this qualification and it's offered on a part-time basis. The level of attendance and duration will depend on where you choose to study.
