Experience Assessment

Make your experience count

Experience Assessment (EA) is a direct route to CIPD professional membership. If you’re an HR or L&D professional, you can use your recent experience from the last three years to gain recognition and accreditation for your achievements. EA is a time-efficient way for you to be recognised for your achievements and is a suitable alternative route to professional membership if you do not want to study a CIPD qualification.

If you’re looking to gain professional accreditation and haven’t worked in HR or L&D, then you might be interested in studying CIPD qualifications.

Who is it for?

If you've gained significant experience working in HR or L&D as a generalist, specialist or consultant in the last three years, whether in the UK or abroad,  and meet the criteria for the level of professional membership you’re applying for, then Experience Assessment could be the route for you.

How does it work?

Experience Assessment gives you the opportunity to be assessed against the CIPD professional membership criteria using your relevant and current experience in HR and L&D (gained in the last three years).

Most candidates invest the equivalent of eight working days of their time to complete the assessments and can become a CIPD professional member in as little as four months.

EA for your organisation

Experience Assessment is also available for organisations. We're in a unique position to work with you to build the capability of your HR and L&D team and function.

Benefits of professional membership

Professional membership of the CIPD sets you apart:

  • Raise your profile with employers.
  • Improve your career prospects and earning potential.
  • Use letters after your name (Assoc CIPD, Chartered MCIPD or Chartered FCIPD).
