Other membership levels

Student membership

Each year about 12,000 individuals embark on their CIPD qualification and join us as a Student member at the start of their studies. Student membership gives you exclusive access to a wealth of essential HR resources, development tools and networking opportunities, to ensure you get your studies off to the best possible start.

Graduate membership

A Graduate member is someone who has completed a CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management/Development (or equivalent PDS); it is not a professional level of CIPD membership. Depending on their HR experience, Graduate members may be eligible to apply for Chartered Membership. While working towards Chartered Membership, Graduate members can transfer to Associate membership.  Associate is the first level of CIPD professional membership and entitles you to use the designation Assoc CIPD after your name. After June 2014 Graduate members will be regraded to Associate automatically.

Affiliate membership

Open to all, Affiliate membership is a non-professional level of membership. It's a great way to learn about the CIPD and access all our exclusive member benefits straightaway.

Academic

Academic membership is an established route to CIPD professional membership for individuals engaged in the teaching, lecturing and research in the field of HR.  It has three levels: Academic Associate, Academic Member and Academic Fellow.
