Important update on Associate membership
From January 2014, all students successfully completing a CIPD awarded Certificate or Diploma (or an equivalent approved university programme) will automatically be upgraded to Associate membership. This will also be retrospectively applied to anyone that has already completed a relevant CIPD qualification. To be eligible, all students will need to ensure that their membership is current. As a result of this change the upgrading process at Associate-level has been withdrawn. Previous Student members of the CIPD will be awarded Associate membership should they hold the relevant qualification and rejoin.
Associate membership is the first level of professional membership of the CIPD and allows individuals to use the designation Assoc CIPD after their name to showcase their credentials. It’s an achievement that ensures that they stand out in their career and is respected and valued by employers. It also emphasises their commitment to continuing professional development and a desire to stay current.
Associate membership will continue to provide a pathway to Chartered membership for those with a recognised postgraduate-level qualification and/or the relevant experience.
See our FAQs to understand in more detail why we’re making this change and what it means for you. A full list of eligible qualifications can also be found in the FAQs.
