The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) has confirmed that it is 'looking afresh at the costs and benefits' of extending flexible working rights. The announcement has been met with concern by the CIPD.

UK maternity rights

Employees whose expected week of childbirth began on or after 5 October 2008 will be entitled to take advantage of all their contractual benefits (except remuneration) during ordinary maternity leave and additional maternity leave.
