I’m not coming in today, my dog is stressed out, The Times

01 December 2008

The Times discusses how the plans announced by the government to replace sick notes with “fit notes” for the long-term ill will impact on absenteism. The article features comments from Ben Willmott, Employee Relations Advisor at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Referring to the measures undertaken by organisations to fight absenteism, Willmott said that the most effective is the “return to work” interview where the employer discusses the employee’s absence with him or her.
