Midlands Co-operative Society has appointed Jane Firth as people development manager. Firth joins the Society from E.ON UK where she held the position of learning and development business partner for three and a half years. Firth started her career in HR in 1993 and has worked for a range of businesses, including Randstad UK, Securicor Recruitment Services and National Express.

Mike Cooke has been appointed chief executive at Camden Council. Cooke, who is deputy chief executive of the council, is also director of housing and adult social care and HR. His background includes previous local government public sector and private sector experience at a senior executive level. His appointment is subject to the formal approval of Full Council on 7 November 2011.

Towergate Insurance has appointed Lucinda Charles-Jones as group HR director with effect from 24 October. Jones previously held HR director roles at Barclays Bank, RAC and Lex Vehicle Leasing, and more recently spent three years as group HR director at Hays. Commenting on her role she said:
“I am delighted to be joining Towergate - it is a dynamic business with an exciting future”.

Deloitte has appointed Carole Crossley as the director of global employers services group, part of the firm’s tax practice. Crossley has previously held HR leadership roles at BP and Lloyds Banking Group and prior to this, she was a partner in the US firms of Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young in Los Angeles and New York. Crossley has 25 years experience in the global mobility and reward space advising HR leaders.

Lena Eliasson has been appointed new head of group HR at defence and security company Saab AB. Eliasson is currently head of group function HR at ABB in Sweden and northern Europe and will be assuming her new position on 1 May 2012 at the latest. Eliasson has worked within HR at ABB for the past 12 years.

Isabelle Hung has been appointed as global head of internal resourcing at global resourcing company, Alexander Mann Solutions. Hung has over fifteen years’ experience within the resourcing and recruitment industry, having previously worked in similar roles for Lompaire, Harrods, Yell and Monster Worldwide.
