Public sector reward
Regional pay proposals and reward strategies in a time of austerity are among the issues on the agenda in a forthcoming CIPD Reward Forum workshop, entitled “What’s up with reward? Keeping it real in the public sector”. Alison Stanley, HR director, Civil Service Employee Policy, will discuss reward strategies, including local pay, while speakers from Shropshire Council will be sharing the council’s own approach through a period of change. Ken Mulkearn, editor of IDS Pay Report, will highlight the facts around regional pay. The half-day workshop takes place on 27 June at the CIPD’s Wimbledon offices.

Non-executive directors
The role of non-executive directors and being a charity trustee are two of the topics in a recently updated series of CIPD factsheets that provide introductory guidance in this area. Other factsheets
in the series address the concept of due diligence, and provide a number of hypothetical case studies, demonstrating the kind of issues that trustees may have to deal with. cipd.co.uk/factsheets
