This year’s finalists for the CIPD People Management Awards have been announced after judges considered a record number of entries.

The awards, which acknowledge the valuable contribution that HR makes to the overall success and sustainability of organisations, this year include two new categories as well as the widening of the Michael Kelly Outstanding Student Award, which this year includes separate categories for foundation/intermediate and postgraduate students.

A winner for each category and an overall winner will be chosen from the shortlist by our senior panel of judges in early September. The official announcement of the winners will take place at the Awards night on 17 October, to be celebrated in London at The Brewery.

The shortlisted organisations will be hoping to emulate last year’s overall winner Amey, a leading UK public service infrastructure provider which demonstrated ingenuity and innovation in the rapid transformation of their HR function.

Stephanie Bird, director of HR capability at the CIPD, said: “I am delighted by the record number of high quality entries received for this year’s awards and would like to thank all the organisations taking part for the excellent work they are doing in the development and management of people.

“It was great to receive entries from a mixture of public sector and private sector organisations demonstrating the positive impact HR is having across different types of businesses. With such an excellent array of finalists I am proud to be a member of the CIPD People Management Awards winners judging panel and wish the best of luck to all those shortlisted.”
