Former HR director of Heathrow Express, Joanne Smith, has joined BAA Stansted. Smith has more than 20 years HR experience including HR Manager for National Grid Group and Employee Relations Officer & Training Officer at Ford Motor Company. She replaces Bill Gregory who left the post in May.


UK Law firm Shakespeares has appointed Simon Mennell HR director across the firm’s seven offices. Mennell has held various senior HR positions both in the UK and internationally including Dow Jones in Asia Pacific, Dubai World in the United Arab Emirates and more recently CPA Global based in Jersey.


Technology provider FNZ, has appointed Daniel Kasmir group HR director. Kasmir joins from Xchanging where he was he was head of HR for three years. Kasmir has been an HR leader for a variety of companies including Shell, Caudwell Communications, Manpower and BDO

Independent mobile advertising network InMobi has appointed Monisha Tambay in the newly created role of vice president of global people operations. Tambay has previously held senior roles with Hewitt Associates, StorageTek, Genpact and Subex Limited. In 2011 and 2012 Tambay was awarded “The Women Super Achiever Award” at the Asia Pacific HRM Congress Awards 2011 and “The Women at Work Leadership Award” at the Rasbic Awards during the World HRD Congress 2012.

Following the integration of Thomas International and Globus HR Group, Sarah Hamilton-Gill has been appointed head of HR and 360 services. She was formerly consultancy director for Globus and has also had roles with Gilmore House Associates and Foster Menswear.

Semta, the employer-led Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies in the UK, has appointed Sarah Sillars OBE as its chief executive. Sillars is currently the executive chair of IMI (The Institute of the Motor Industry) and will take up her new position in October. Sillars was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in June 2008 for services to skills training and the retail motor industry.

After 12 years at Aviva, John Ainley* is stepping down as group HR director. Carole Jones will become acting group HR director pending the appointment of a permanent replacement.
