Marion Fanthorpe

Marion is the Head of HR Development for the London Borough of Camden. This is a strategic, corporate role encompassing organisation development, leadership and staff development, HR policy and innovation, pay and reward and HR performance management. In her three and a half years at Camden Marion has led a major culture change programme, designed and embedded a new performance management system, introduced innovative leadership and management development programmes and modernised learning and development.

Marion has over 20 years HR experience in both consultancy and in-house roles within the public sector. Marion started her career as a social worker and service manager and moved from this into the professional development of social workers before broadening out into wider staff development management roles. Before joining Camden Marion spent 10 years in consultancy working with clients to improve their organisational capacity and performance. Assignments included managing major organisational change assignments, embedding service planning and performance management, reviewing HR functions and coaching and facilitating top teams.

Marion’s main interest lies in understanding the characteristics of successful, high performing organisations, and the central role OD and HR strategy and practices has in creating the right conditions for these to flourish.
