John McGurk, CIPD's Adviser for Learning and Talent Development, outlines the findings of the CIPD’s new Learning and talent development 2010 survey to Philippa Lamb. He also explains how the joint project with Portsmouth University on evaluation of training has high-lighted organisations’ weaknesses in the evaluation process. He says later on in the podcast that he finds the new philosophies in L & D very exciting when tied into business needs.

Peter Butler from BT, gives his reactions to the survey and thinks training professionals should reassess their strategies. He outlines how BT has revamped training and goes on to describe its delivery. Listen and see if this would be possible in your organisation – John McGurk certainly thinks it is the way ahead.

Cornish food company, Ginsters’ Head of Learning and Development, Nicky Taylor, says it is crucial to align training strategies with business goals. They have introduced e-learning to the business to keep pace with the introduction of robotics to the production lines. It was not without problems which the company has taken time and patience to solve, but the training for change has paid off massively. Listen to Nicky outlining the benefits to her organisation.

Alan Fletcher, Laboratory Manager, from the Knowledge Media Institute at the Open University goes for MUPLE - mashing up of personal learning environments! Listen to Alan explain what this is and how to use it to engage all employees and help them to learn as flexibly as possible.
