About CIPD
12 May 2008
Leadership is needed in today’s organisations now more than ever, yet only 36% of British leaders have confidence in their organisation’s current leadership ability: this compares with 53% of global leaders, according to research from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and Development Dimensions International (DDI). The forthcoming Leadership conference from the CIPD takes place on the 3rd June, British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and will examine the latest CIPD/DDI global leadership forecast, and highlight how HR can help close the leadership gap.
Speakers at the conference include:
•
Tim Richardson,
Director, Leadership Development and Talent Management at Pricewaterhouse Coopers
•
Mike Brown,
Chief Operating Officer on London Underground.
•
Angela O’Connor,
Chief People Officer at the National Policing Improvement Agency.
The Conference will also include a panel discussion on Creating Innovative Approaches to Leadership Development. Facilitated by Linda Holbeche, (Director of Research and Policy at the CIPD), the discussion will develop the theme of how Personnel specialists are at the forefront of building a leadership culture.
Linda Holbeche
says: “Developing leadership cultures is important for the success of any organisation, particularly in times of economic slowdown. Any organisation needs strong leaders who can assist HR in a number of ways such as keeping employees engaged, spotting skills gaps or managing redundancies. This conference will give practical advice on how to achieve your objectives and implement a leadership strategy that makes a difference.”
