In September 2014, the CIPD responded to the HM Treasury call for evidence on remuneration practices in order to inform future government tax policy changes; the intention for consultation on the subject was announced during Budget 2014.
The consultation sought to assess and explore the wider picture around remuneration practices and the issues that influence employers and individuals when negotiating remuneration. In particular, the government were seeking responses on four broad areas:
- What different forms of remuneration make up remuneration packages
- Why different forms of remuneration are used
- How different forms of remuneration are provided
- What the future of remuneration looks like
In response, the CIPD conducted an online member survey, a consultation with a panel of senior reward and HR practitioners and analysis of CIPD research focusing on pay and reward practices in order to inform our reply to government on this issue.
