Current consultations

The CIPD has been approached by the Department for Work and Pensions to facilitate a meeting with members on the reform of the FMed3 sick-note.

The new sicknote will aim to provide a framework to encourage more GPs to help people with health problems make phased returns to work in reduced hours or less demanding roles as part of the rehabilitation and recovery.

We have had two meetings with members at Department for Work and Pensions office regarding these proposals. Details of the meeting will be posted here in the near future.

We are also responding to the following government consultation:

Raising Expectations: enabling a system to deliver

This is a joint consultation between the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and the Department for Innovation Universities and Skills (DIUS) on the transfer of planning and funding responsibilities for 16-19 year olds from the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) to Local Authorities and proposals for reforming the post 19 skills landscape.
To inform our response, we are particularly keen to hear your views on the following:
• Plans to transfer funding from the LSC to local authorities to create a single local strategic leader for 14-19 education and training - is the right approach?
• Proposals to create a new Skills Funding Agency to replace the Learning and Skills Council post-19 – will this work?

If you would prefer to submit your own response, you can read the consultation summary and respond on-line at the DCSF website.

If you would like to give CIPD your views for our own consultation document, contact us here

The closing date for consultation responses is 9 June 2008.
