Advance your HR career with new CIPD qualifications

CIPD qualifications are available at Level 7 Advanced, Level 5 Intermediate and Level 3 Foundation, and you can study awards, certificates and diplomas at each of these levels. Most CIPD qualifications provide a pathway to becoming a CIPD professional member, at Associate (Assoc CIPD). The Advanced level Diploma, PDS (or university equivalent) provides the underpinning knowledge to apply to become recognised as a Chartered Member or Chartered Fellow.

About Level 7 Advanced* qualifications


CIPD's Level 7 Advanced qualifications are ideal for those aspiring to become effective HR practitioners - whether working as managers or consultants in generalist or specialist roles. Set at a postgraduate level, CIPD Level 7 Advanced qualifications will develop your understanding of organisations and the changing external context within which HR operates.

Using critical analysis, self-reflection and problem solving techniques, you will learn how to develop and implement creative and strategic HR solutions that drive organisational performance. 

CIPD Advanced qualifications provide you with a professionally recognised qualification and a professional level of membership, Associate (Assoc CIPD). Plus our Advanced Diplomas provide the underpinning knowledge towards CIPD Chartered membership (Chartered Member or Chartered Fellow).


Level 7 Advanced qualifications are comparable to the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) level 7 in England and comparable to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) level 7. 

About Level 5 Intermediate* qualifications

CIPD's new Level 5 Intermediate qualifications are designed for those who:

  • aspire to work in HR and want to study a recognised undergraduate level qualification
  • work in a HR support role and want to progress their career by developing their knowledge and skills at a higher level.

Set at undergraduate level, our Level 5 Intermediate qualifications will develop your ability to evaluate the effectiveness of different HR models and practices, and increase the understanding of the external factors that impact upon HR activities and organisations. Whilst building expertise in your chosen HR specialist subjects, you will also develop your planning, analytical and problem solving skills.

CIPD Intermediate Certificates and Diplomas provide a professionally recognised qualification and a professional level of CIPD membership, Associate (Assoc CIPD). 

*Level 5 Intermediate qualifications are comparable to the Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF) level 5 in England and comparable to the European Qualifications Framework level 5.

About Level 3 Foundation* qualifications

CIPD's Level 3 Foundation qualifications are perfect if you want to acquire a wide range of relevant practical skills in HR and development. You can choose to follow a HR or L&D pathway and you also have the opportunity to study individual foundation level awards to either start or top up your HR and L&D knowledge.

*Level 3 Foundation qualifications are comparable to the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) level 3 in England and comaparable to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) level 4.
