Improving health through human resources

  • We worked jointly with the Department of Health and the Healthcare People Management Association on a study exploring how people management and development can help NHS organisations to achieve their goals. The research was carried out by Manchester Business School in six case study organisations from the NHS actute, mental health, and primary care sectors. The final report from the study was published in February 2008. It sets out the findings, with implications and guidance on how to use people management to drive performance.

  • A Research Insight paper Improving Health through Human Resource Management: Summary findings, providing an overview  of the project, is now available to download

  • A report on the first phase of the work Improving Health through Human Resource Management: Mapping the territory was published in January 2006.
