New research

The relationship between HR and recruitment agencies

  • We are working with the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) on a research project which will explore the relationship between HR and recruitment agencies and come up with guidance on how both parties can get the best from this partnership.


Published research

Talent management

  • Nottingham Business School have carried out a major research project for us looking at talent management in a strategically integrated way in the global, national and organisational context. We have published a number of  reports based on this project.

Recruitment

  • During 2007/08 we will be producing a series of 'research insight' publications examining the impact of age legislation on specific areas of HR. The first of these: Age and Recruitment was produced in July 2007 in conjunction with Cranfield Business School and Beachcroft LLP.
  • We conduct an annual survey into recruitment, retention and turnover practices.
  • Our factsheet on recruitment gives introductory guidance on the key issues.
  • We have a comprehensive research report  International Recruitment, Selection and Assessment, and also a factsheet drawing on the report to provide introductory guidance.
  • Our survey report Graduates in the workplace: does a degree add value provides data on graduates' expectations and experiences of working.

HR Outsourcing

  • We published a research report focusing on the pros and cons of HR outsourcing in June 2005. This includes detailed case studies focusing on the decision-making process involved.

Flexible working

  • We have an interactive tool to help managers assess how flexible working is operating in their organisations and how and how they can improve and support arrangements for the benefits of employees and the business.
  • Our survey into flexible working practices was published in February 2005. It examines how organisations are making use of flexible working practices – exploring motivation and the effects on business. It looks at the range and availability, motivations for using, perceived effects, take-up and evaluation, the challenge of communication and implementation and flexible working in context. 
  • A survey into flexible working practices looking in particular at paternity leave takeup was published in October 2004 – Flexible working and paternity leave: the full rate for fatherhood.
