The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development

2012 Resourcing and Talent Planning Survey

"Every day we work with employers who are simultaneously dealing with both workforce reductions and skill shortages ...This level of scrutiny means that employers have high expectations that can translate into very rigid criteria and lengthy recruitment processes. Unfortunately this can be counterproductive at a time when competition for talent is rife in many industries."

Nigel Heap
UK & Ireland Managing Director

Top line findings from our
Resourcing and Talent Planning survey,
produced in partnership with Hays, revealed
that public sector organisations face increased
problems in recruiting and retaining staff,
particularly at a senior level, as skilled individuals
shy away from the sector as the impact of the
cuts is felt and the image of the sector wanes.

38% of public sector organisations surveyed
reported that it was especially hard to fill
vacancies at manager and specialist levels
and a further 19% reported problems with
finding candidates for senior manager and
director level roles.
