This research insight is the result of ongoing collaboration between the CIPD, Investors in People and the Health & Safety Executive on research into management competencies for preventing and reducing stress at work.
The report outlines the findings of the research so far and describes phase three, a learning intervention for managers in 17 organisations. It looks at why manager behaviour is important, and reflects on barriers and facilitators of positive management behaviour and behaviour change.
Case studies from the British Geological Survey, the Probation Service, and an NHS trust are included.
This research has informed a set of guidance leaflets on line management behaviour and stress, including a competency framework, guidance for line managers and advice for HR.
