The LAETR mediation cycle

Last Published  01 August 2012

The LAETRâ„¢ mediation cycle is a practical guide for mediators to follow when conducting mediations. This tool provides a thorough exploration of the listen, ask, explore, test and resolve cycle that has been developed by Clive Lewis OBE DL. This cycle will provide a method with which the delegates can manage mediations. Using practical exercises to allow delegates to gain experience of working through this cycle, this skills-based tool provides a guide with which to underpin the mediation process. Included in this tool is guidance and examples of producing a settlement agreement.

Tool aims
  • To help delegates become confident using a practical guide with which to conduct mediations
  • To provide guidance on how to manage all stages of a mediation to work toward settlement
  • To provide guidelines with which to produce an accurate and workable settlement agreement.
