Suggested steps
Introduce the tool so that it related to the overall workshop that you are running.
Step 1 - What skills can be assessed
Give out the What skills can be assessed handout and discuss this with the group.
Distribute the Turning competencies into questions using the STARR approach handout and discuss this with the group.
Step 2 - Devising competency questions
Arrange the participants into groups of three or four and hand out the Devising competency based interview questions exercise sheet, describing how the exercise will work.
Allow the group 25 minutes to complete the exercise and then feedback as a whole group. You may want to collate the answers on a flipchart or post-it pad as you go.
Step 3 - How competency based interview questions are marked
Handout the How competency based interview questions are marked handout and take the group through its content.
If you have time, pick a competency and question generated by the group in the previous exercise and ask them to provide some 'Positive Indicators' and 'Negative Indicators'.
