Understanding your personal SWOTs and preferences

This tool helps the leader to develop his or her self-awareness by using two specific concepts. The first one involves the conventional SWOT analysis normally used by organisations and applies it to the individual leader. The second concept introduces the leader to the core ideas behind the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory. The tool is useful for all levels of leaders, particularly strategic leaders who wish to develop their self-awareness using conventional concepts easily explained to others. This particular Tool is relevant for leaders in all sizes of organisation, from small to large.

Tool aims
  • To provide participants with a balanced view of their personal strengths, possible weaknesses, personal opportunities and possible threats to their progress as a leader
  • To introduce participants to the idea of intelligent objectivity by encouraging them to look at themselves as if they were a business in their own right
  • To gain an awareness of their personal preferences in terms of how they operate in order to act as an introduction to their undertaking a Myers-Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI) assessment.
