Approaches to minimising long-term absence

It is important for both the organisation and the absent employee that they are supported to enable the employee to return to work as quickly as possible following a period of ill-health. This tool provides an overview of the different strategies and interventions that can be used. These range from organisational procedures (eg the provision of flu jabs for employees) and HR policy to referral to occupational health specialists.
