Effective return-to-work interviews

Return-to-work interviews are the most frequently used absence management intervention and it is important that those responsible for conducting them have the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to conduct them effectively. They can act as a deterrent to non-genuine absences as, through them, the company communicates the message that it is keeping on top of absence; they also support those employees that have been genuinely ill and ensure that their return to work is smooth for both the employee and those responsible for managing absence.
