Supporting employees on their return to the workplace

Last Published  01 August 2012

Although doctors can confirm that a medical condition has ended, thus enabling an employee to return to work, returning employees need support so that they do not suffer a relapse. The support required will depend upon the individual employee, the reason for their absence and the job that they normally carry out. It will also depend on the resources that the organisation has available.

This tool provides suggestions about the types of support that could be provided.

Tool aim
  • To understand the difficulties that employees can face when they are returning to the workplace after a long period of absence and to explore how they can be supported.
