Using your listening skills in absence management

Listening skills are an essential part of the absence management process and enable managers to understand what the issues are and try to provide appropriate support. It is vital that managers and HR staff recognise the importance of listening to what employees are saying. This applies not only in return-to-work interviews but also on an organisational level, whereby employees feel that their opinions are valued and acted upon.
