When managers learn that they have an important responsibility to help staff develop, many of them see this as one more burden in an already crowded day. Yet when we look at learning, we see that there are many development opportunities in and around most jobs. They are free, available and beneficial. All we have to do is recognise them and we can develop staff without really trying. In other words, we get a lot of benefit for very little effort. This tool shows participants the range of workplace development opportunities and encourages them to capitalise on such opportunities to develop their own staff.
