Responsibilities for learning

The purpose of this tool is to develop a common understanding about the split of responsibility for learning between a manager, their manager and their team members. The approach taken is a combination of self-reflection and discussions with the manager's manager and the manager's team.

Tool aims
  • To help managers arrive at an agreement as to who is responsible for what in the area of training and development.
  • To provide a simple structure for a discussion between a manager and their own manager, as well as a discussion between a manager and the manager's team.
