As business becomes more global, the HR function must meet an increasingly large and complex set of challenges. In terms of recruitment and selection, for example, HR practitioners have to work within globally coordinated systems, whilst recognising and being sensitive to local needs. It has become increasingly obvious that informed and effective international HR management is crucial for the success of your overseas business ventures.
CIPD International HR Management Programme
Based on extensive CIPD International HRM research and work with the International HRM Forum, we have launched the CIPD International HR Management programme to help you prepare for the global HR challenges your organisation faces.
Benefits to your business
This programme will give you a team of HR professionals that can:
- implement an international HRM approach that supports your business objectives, and enhances the corporate identify and brand values of your organisation globally
- respond effectively to rapidly changing business situations in the global arena
- review the current performance of your international HRM policies and identify areas for improvement
- apply an HRM approach that utilises the latest thinking and practice
- improve performance through shared experience and support.
The programme is delivered on an in-house basis so the learning can be tailored to fit with your organisations specific challenges.
Benefits to the individual
The CIPD International HRM programme will give your HR staff:
- the knowledge and practical skills to confidently adjust thinking and approaches to manage international HRM issues
- professional development
- opportunities for career progression.
Participants are required to complete a number of practical assignments which can add real value to the business by addressing current business issues as part of the programme.
In-house blended learning approach
This programme is a blended learning solution so participants benefit from a variety of learning interventions including face-to-face learning and development days and personal research opportunities, all of which are supported through an online learning portal. This structure maximises learning opportunities and the generation of ideas by incorporating team work and encouraging individual input.
Programme objectives
The objectives of the programme are to:
- explore the themes and issues that differentiate international HR from single country practice
- identify the latest thinking from researchers, practitioners and academics about each aspect of international HR
- review your organisation’s current international HR performance and identify areas for improvement
- promote use of learning networks where individuals share similar learning needs and enrich learning through sharing their experiences.
Style of working
Three, two-day face-to-face modules will cover the following key areas:
- setting the scene and development an international perspective
- International resourcing and development
- International reward, employee relations and recognition strategies.
For each module there is essential pre-work developed by some of the UK’s leading international HRM experts. The learning and development days will be lead by specialists who will focus on developing good practice through drawing on the insights from completed pre-work. Participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences, learn from others and will be challenged to take a critical view of current approaches.
Assessment of the learning is through a practical assignment for each of the three modules and a final written project.
