Organisational development (OD) is the process of planning and implementing strategies to create interpersonal, group, inter-group, and organisation-wide change. As the pace of change accelerates, organisations are finding that they need to make themselves more nimble and responsive to external demands. To succeed they are finding that they need to involve their employees in key decisions and take the initiative in innovating and managing their environment, rather than simply respond to what has already happened.
OD is playing an increasingly larger role in helping organisations to change by providing them with the tools to assess themselves and their environments and to revitalise and rebuild their strategy, structure and processes.
The roots of OD are in human psychology and the notion of the psychology of potential, growth and development. This Certificate explores the concepts of OD and its evolution into a values-based approach to systems change in organisations and communities.
