The 2-day Introductory Workshop will help you to understand the requirements of the CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice. It will also help you to identify the opportunities, challenges and sources of help and support available to you.

The chance to get first hand guidance from a course tutor at the outset and the networking opportunities with others who are also working towards the Certificate can help to make your learning more enjoyable and rewarding. It will also cover some general aspects of HR practice.

By the end of the work, you will be able to:

• identify the key requirements of the Certificate in terms of the modules and the completion of assessed work
• describe some key contributions and functions of the HR department
• explain the key issues in recording, analysing and interpreting HR data
• explain the contribution of HR in managing activities such as organisational and HR planning, health and safety, absence, grievances, flexible working practices and making organisational improvements
• evaluate the impact of the external and internal environment on HR processes and planning.

The structure of the workshop is informal. There will be tutor guidance and input, as well as the opportunity to participate in discussions, network with fellow students, raise queries and discuss ways to tackle your personal development plan, assignments and project.
