1) Who is the Certificate aimed at?

All personnel and development practitioners, all recruitment agency consultants who wish to further their careers with a professional qualification and line managers who have responsibility for recruitment.

Recruiters who are Graduate members of the CIPD may also find this certificate programme (or the individual modules) ideal as a refresher to update their knowledge of any recent changes.

2) How can I use what I learn back at work?

On completion of the CRS you will be able to:

  • prepare and conduct face-to-face interviews
  • identify and develop the most appropriate recruitment and selection strategies for your organisation
  • apply the relevant recruitment laws
  • develop systematic selection interviewing and decision making techniques
  • evaluate the range of tools available, including psychometric tests, bio data, assessment centres, video based interviewing and health questionnaires
  • explain professional and ethical standards and codes of practice
  • demonstrate the range of ways in which professional recruitment consultants can add value for client organisations, contributing to the success of both the client and consultancy
  • incorporate online recruitment for maximum advantage.

3) How do I gain the Certificate?

To gain the Certificate you must:

a) attend the following CIPD courses:

  • Introductory Workshop (2 days)
  • Strategies for Recruitment and Selection (2 days)
  • Recruitment and Selection Skills (3 days)
  • Recruitment and the Internet (1 day)
  • Recruiting within the Law (1 day)
  • Introduction to Psychometrics (1 day) or Recruitment Consultancy (1 day)

b) complete five self-study exercises

c) put together a CPD development plan

d) undertake two written assessed assignments and two skills based assignments

e) undertake an assessed integrated project related to the syllabus and to your area of recruitment and selection work. This includes submitting a project proposal and then a project written in a report format.

4) How long will it take me?

You have a maximum of two years to complete and pass all your assessed work, including self-study exercises, written and skills based assignments, a project proposal and written project in report format and CPD in order to gain your Certificate and Associate membership of the CIPD.

5) What support will I have throughout the Certificate?

Your employer

Wherever possible we encourage you to obtain your employer’s support in the following areas:

  • learning objectives
  • assignments and case studies
  • consolidating learning

Your personal tutor

You will be assigned a personal tutor whilst you are studying for the CRS. The personal tutor’s role is to support and coach you though the programme, including:

  • answering any queries you have about the content and structure of the CRS
  • reviewing outline plans of your assessed work
  • commenting on draft copies of your written assignments and case studies and providing feedback on areas of improvement
  • providing useful reference points for additional information, if necessary.

CIPD

The Certificate co-ordinator is available to help with any questions you may have at any stage.

6) Does the Certificate lead to CIPD membership?

Whilst studying you are an Affiliate-Studying member of the CIPD. Completion of the Certificate leads to Associate membership of the CIPD.

Please note that membership fees are not included in the Certificate fee. You’ll need to pay a one-off administration fee of £109 and an annual subscription fee based on the time of year you join.

7) How much does the Certificate cost?

You can either pay the full Certificate fee up-front or pay on a module-by-module basis.

Up-front fees

£3,860.00 + £675.50 VAT

Module-by-module fees

You will be invoiced for the Introductory Workshop (including all Certificate resources), and four modules on an individual basis for the total fee of £4,045.00 + £707.88 VAT

Fees include:

  • tuition on all face-to-face modules
  • course materials including candidate handbook, books and self-study material
  • access to a CIPD personal tutor by phone, email and post
  • monitoring of the programme by CIPD qualified tutors and moderators
  • assessment of assignments and the project.
