Recommended for:
The Advanced Workplace Counselling course is for HR and development professionals and line managers who have already participated in an introductory course on counselling or have existing counselling skills.
Course overview:
Line managers and HR professionals are increasingly being asked to support employees in a number of roles: as advice and information givers, mentors, trainers and, more recently, as counsellors. Indeed, counselling skills underlie and underpin many forms of employee help. This 2-day Advanced Workplace Counselling course builds on the Counselling in the Workplace course and explores further counselling skills and processes.
Course benefits:
By the end of the Advanced Workplace Counselling course you will be able to:
- assess employees to provide or refer for the most effective form of intervention/s
- practise the initial skills of interviewing and the advanced skills of challenge and confrontation
- explain the interpersonal dynamics at work within the counselling relationship
- handle the ‘difficult’ personality, eg one who manipulates helpers, is resistant to change, is overdemanding
- identify the characteristics of those who may be mildly, moderately or even severely disturbed and may require professional help and support.
