Mrs Victoria Whitworth
Vicky Whitworth is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and has over twenty years experience of human resource management and development in the private, public and not-for profit sectors.

Vicky started her career in central government before moving on to ethical high street retailer The Body Shop. In 1998 she set up an HR consultancy business, Essence Consulting, which specialises in recruitment and performance management.

Essence Consulting has worked with clients as diverse as Denplan (Number 6 in the Sunday Times Top 100 companies to work for), Petty,Wood (suppliers of fine foods to the retail market), Orange (the mobile phone company), and Action On Addiction (a charitable organisation to support recovering addicts).

Vicky has worked with the CIPD since 1998 as a tutor on the professional development scheme, first at BPP and later at MOL. She is currently a tutor for the CIPD’s Advanced Certificate in Reward Management and the Certificate in Recruitment and Selection. Vicky also delivers some of the CIPD short courses such as interviewing skills.

Vicky specialises in assessment particularly in the context of recruitment selection and performance development, and is a qualified user of a range of psychometric tools including SHL and Myers-Briggs.

In the last year she has been focusing on raising the skill levels of line managers in conducting recruitment interviews, and has become intrigued by the concept of recruiting for ‘fit’ with an organisation’s values and culture rather than trainable skills.
