Setting Coaching in an Organisational Context

Recommended for:

Managers responsible for co-ordinating change interventions, managers coaching others to achieve organisational goals, coaches seeking to understand their work within an organisational context, and managers, coaches and consultants wishing to learn more about the psychology of organisational change through coaching.

Course overview:

Successful coaching enables leaders and managers to leverage their distinctive talents towards organisational performance. However, the effective alignment of individual talent to organisational need requires organisational sponsors and coaches who can bridge between psychology and business – who can simultaneously hold in mind the challenge of individual change and the complexity of the system in which change is intended to occur.

This workshop provides participants with insight into the psychology that underpins coaching in organisations. It shows how our parallel attention to the psychological and the organisational can provide the basis for coaching that translates into sustainable organisational performance. It helps you answer the question: 'How can I get people to realise their unique qualities and talents for the benefit of themselves and their organisation?'

Course benefits:

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • inquire into the organisational context for potential coaching initiatives
  • identify key stakeholders and manage expectations
  • diagnose the psychological journey that coaching is likely to entail, whether for individuals or for groups of managers
  • recognise the psychological challenge in brokering between personal and organisational goals
  • decide how the organisational context has to be managed to optimise the impact of coaching
  • differentiate between the skills of different coaches
  • manage the boundaries of coaching contracts while at the same time collecting invaluable feedback on organisational development challenges and themes.
