management skills courses and qualifications.
Caroline Allen Chartered FCIPD
Caroline has held high-profile positions in the public and private sectors including the Cabinet Office and the former GlaxoWellcome.
She is co-founder of an international people development consultancy and has been a guest speaker for several wellknown institutions.
As a practitioner, she has specialised in organisational and management development. At GlaxoWellcome, Caroline led the people development strategy during the GlaxoWellcome UK
merger and was a member of the global team designing and implementing a leadership development programme for the top 200 executives worldwide.
Kim Birnie Chartered CCIPD
Kim Birnie is the managing director of a consultancy which specialises in talent and leadership development, organisation design and culture change. She is a Companion of the
CIPD and a former Vice-President in learning and development.
She has 19 years’ experience working within retail, FMCG, food services, financial services and consulting, across Europe, the USA and Asia.
Kim’s career has included senior roles at Tesco Stores Ltd, where she was Group Learning Director and PepsiCo Inc, where she held a number of senior HR roles including
Organisation and Management Development Director for Frito-Lay (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and HR Director for Walkers Snack Foods Ltd in the UK.
Dr Jim Cannon Chartered FCIPD
Jim Cannon specialises in organisation development and has consulted with organisations in the UK, North America, Europe and Asia. Jim works as a coach to individual
executives, as well as facilitating events designed to improve the effectiveness of teams and organisations. He runs an extensive range of training courses. His early career
included a wide range of personnel and IT assignments culminating in director level roles within Charterhouse Group, Black and Decker, Thorn EMI and Right Cavendish.
Katrina Easterling Chartered FCIPD
Katrina has a portfolio work profile combining HR, nonexecutive director and public service interests with an academic role as a Programme Director and Senior Lecturer in HRM
at the University of Winchester. She is currently an External Examiner in Employee Relations and Law for the University of Gloucestershire and in Business Management for Bath Spa
University. She has held a judicial appointment since 2004 when she was appointed by the Lord Chancellor’s Office as a Lay Member for the Judicial Appointments Commission. In
2006, Katrina was appointed to the Review Body on Doctors’ and Dentists’ Remuneration which is an advisory body, independent of Government, with the task of making recommendations
to the Prime Minister on the remuneration of NHS doctors and dentists.
Katrina’s previous Board level experience includes a six years’ term on the Executive Board of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, and a role on its Audit
Committee. She has been an Associate Non Executive Director for a Primary Care Trust and an HR Director for a FTSE 250 quoted company. Other HR roles include Head of HR (EMEA),
leading the HR function across 29 countries; and International HR Manager.
Terry Gillen Chartered FCIPD
Terry Gillen is a consultant trainer and author specialising in the improvement of people’s performance, relationships and well-being at work.
During his 30-year career in people development he has worked in the public sector, private sector and consultancy. As well as running courses throughout the UK, Europe and Far
East, he has written twelve books and trainers’ resources covering topics such as assertiveness, performance management, influencing skills and leadership. These have been
translated into 16 languages.
Alf Hatton Chartered MCIPD
Dr Alf Hatton is currently Dean of Enterprise and Head of the Business School, NEWI (North East Wales Institute, A Member of the University of Wales). He is especially
interested in the public and non-profit, health, heritage, culture and arts sectors and currently serves on the Institute of Healthcare Management Professional Development
Committee.
After University, Alf was briefly an Inspector in the Royal Hong Kong Police. Returning to the UK, he re-trained in ethnography at Sunderland Art Gallery & Museums, and went on
to become the Museums & Galleries Director in Monmouth District, Ipswich Borough, Coventry City and the Hunterian Museums & Art Gallery, Glasgow University. He interspersed these
career posts with lectureships at University College London’s Institute of Archaeology, Birmingham University’s Ironbridge Institute and the Dept. of International Relations,
Nottingham Trent University.
In 1993 he set up his own strategy and organisational development consulting firm, working with organisations in health, tourism, leisure and heritage in England and Scotland,
until in 2002 he returned to academe as Deputy Director, Graduate School of Business, Strathclyde University.
Angela hatton
Angela, a Chartered Marketer, is a consultant, trainer and writer specialising in strategic management and marketing. Her company has a broad blue chip client base and she has
worked across a range of sectors from the BBC and City & Guilds to IBM and IPCmedia. She has a strong interest in management education and over 10 years experience as a senior
examiner and academic adviser to the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She has written a number of books including The Definitive Guide to Marketing Planning, The Definitive Guide
to Pitches, Proposals and Presentations, Economic Theory and Marketing Practice and Effective Management for Marketing.
David Rees Chartered MCIPD
David has worked for a variety of employers in both management and training roles. His extensive experience ranges from public sector to commercial businesses, and from large
to very small organisations. He has designed many management development programmes and courses for specific initiatives. David runs a business consultancy which helps and advises
organisations to improve their performance.
Paul Turner Chartered CCIPD
Paul Turner has run his own international management consultancy since 2005 working with client businesses operating in Europe, Asia Pacific and the USA. He is also Professor
and Executive in Residence at Nottingham Business School.
He was formerly President of Europe, Middle East and Africa, Employee Care for the Convergys Corporation, responsible for the HRBPO business across the region. Paul joined
Convergys in 2003 as Vice-President for both EMEA and ASPAC.
He was previously Group HR Business Director for Lloyds TSB and Vice-President of the CIPD as well as a director of BT.
Paul has served as a non-executive director in
organisations in both the public and private sector and is a Companion of the CIPD.
