Practical People Analytics

By Sam Hill, Managing Consultant and Founder of Workforce Dimensions.

With an appropriate people analytics strategy in place, organisations can transform their decision-making process. By connecting your people data to the organisation’s objectives and developing techniques to deliver clear, actionable insights, you can genuinely help move your business forward.

HR Analytics is an obsession of mine that has stretched beyond 15 years, both in industry and as a consultant across a range of sectors. I’ve seen first-hand the countless benefits that an effective analytics strategy can bring to both HR and the wider business functions. I’m delighted to be involved both as a delegate and contributor at the CIPD HR Analytics Conference and Workshop - an event that, judging by the quality of speakers and breadth of subject matter, promises to be both informative and inspirational for anyone with an interest in and passion for HR Analytics.

With case studies from both the private and public sectors, and contributions from thought leaders, educators and practitioners, those attending are sure to leave the event empowered to take the next step on the HR Analytics journey.

Simply put, the aim of the workshop, which I’m facilitating, is to help delegates identify business critical questions in respect of the workforce and to demonstrate how to add value to the decision making process in their organisation. A context for, and techniques to support, People Analytics will be shared; and illustrated using case studies focusing on subject matter including regretted attrition and retention, the effectiveness of the staffing function and the return on investment of learning and development initiatives.

The workshop will stress the need for the HR analyst to move away from the role of the reactive service provider, to a position where they genuinely enable the business by proactively providing and championing data-driven insight.

For practical advice on building a well-crafted approach to people analytics, and an opportunity to share and discuss the workforce challenges in your business, please join me in London on November 23 for the Practical People Analytics Workshop at the HR Analytics Conference & Workshop on 22-23 November.
