Pre-employment checks

Hi All

Other than the usual commonplace pre-employment checks such as references. medical  and criminal records, I would be interested to hear if anyone carries out any additional checks on a BAU basis.

  • Identity and right to work in the UK. Also, qualifications/professional memberships if these are a requirement of the role.
  • Working in a school, it's all of that plus an employment history check for gaps, barred lists (where appropriate), prohibition from teaching check, prohibition from management check (where appropriate), qualification proof, right to work, EEA and overseas checks (DBS equivalent in countries worked) and proof of current address. Thorough it is!
