Looking for a trainer in disabilities

Hello, I'm looking for a trainer who can deliver a series of workshops on the topic of disability awareness in the workplace, for a client of mine. The client in question would like to develop a group of internal disability advocates to support fellow employees and network members who have disability-related work issues. They'd like to include training on the Disability Discrimination legislation and a range of international instruments such as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), among many other topics. Please let me if this is an area that you work in. Many thanks, Matthew.

  • Hi Matthew, it's disappointing to see you have had no replies to your question.  :-(  I can only offer a couple of suggestions which may help: try Trainerbase as they list trainers covering a huge range of topics, website: http://www.trainerbase.co.uk/

Also, it may be worth posting the same question onto the Training Zone forum as they quite often provides some good suggestions.

  • Hi Matthew,

This is an area I would have been able to help you with, but I'm not freelancing at the moment, so am unavailable.

I would recommend connecting with the Business Disability Forum - it is a membership organisation and I would highly recommend joining to any organisation looking to become more disability confident. They offer free training and telephone support to members of disability issues and they can also deliver custom training programmes.

Also I would highly recommend Kerry Smith. She used to work for BDF, but is now an independent trainer and consultant in the field of disability awareness at work. She has particular expertise in dyslexia and mental health and she really helps to bring these topics to life.

    Her Linkedin is here: https://uk.linkedin.com/pub/kerry-smith/5/34b/406

  • May be worth mentioning (depending of course on the particular need) that disability awareness, albeit of great importance, is of course but one part of the whole that is equality of opportunity.
