Diversity and inclusion competencies

We have recently developed a set of inclusive workplace competencies for the Toronto Region Immigration Employment Council (TRIEC) in Canada. These are aimed at 4 groups of people and intended to include all dimensions of diversity (ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, age, ...):

  • those working with diverse colleagues
  • those leading a diverse team
  • human resources professionals and diversity & inclusion specialists
  • 'champions' for diversity & inclusion in their organisation or community

    ( in UK specifically, this work is of course potentially hugely important re the responsibilities of the entire public sector in terms of delivering the Public Sector Equality Duty. I was once involved in trying to cajole work-based learning providers to operate in compliance with such requirements and this would have made it a lot less of the uphill struggle it often was then.)
