Removal of car lease plan

A friend has been advised that her lease car is being removed. She has had the car for 8 years and is classified as an Essential Car User, although to be fair does it do a lot of mileage. Her contract states "BUSINESS TRAVEL:

Essential Car User allowances are payable and this also entitles you to apply for a car loan. Alternatively, a lease car is available on the terms and conditions set out in the lease car scheme to which the Council will make a contribution".

The lease car is her only car and this will have a serious financial impact. Is there any protection under Employment Law? Thanks
