Devolution of Training Budget

I would be very keen to hear from other RSl's & Local Authorities if any of you have devolved your training budgets to actual departments. If you have what method did you use? What percentage of the total budget did you keep back for corporate training and unforeseen events?

  • Devolved the qualifications (internal or external), individual remedial and compliance elements to line managers and required them to make their own budget submissions each year.

    Anything developmental or required to support organizational initiatives stayed central to enable us to take a more holistic and strategic view of the organization's needs.

    Soft skills were either included in full development programmes or could be purchased by line managers (as remedial training).
