    That is precisely what I am doing, Peter.

    We have a number of Chinese staff who fairly frequently travel back for holidays. Anyone returning is being put on two weeks paid leave (not unpaid or sick leave) before they may return to the office.

    What is this significance of 31 August?

    If this is the public sector then perhaps there are peculiarities, but generally if someone started in June 2019 they will have gained one year's continuous service in June 2020. Or am I missing something…

    - talk strategy and tactical planning with the senior team, not just respond to crises.

    An expired passport is fine as long as the individual is a UK/EU/EEA citizen (shortly perhaps to become just UK!).
    If however it is a non-EU citizen's passport endorsed with for example 'Unlimited Leave to Remain' then it must be current.
